“Stupid? Yes. Crazy? Oh definitely. But you still shouldn’t let that stop you. After all, where do you think a lot of these famous people would be if they listened to everyone that said their dream was stupid and that they shouldn’t do it?”
“Sh-Shimmer, right? Uh, sorry for- for forgetting your name, um- but- … but I was never doing any of it to get famous. I was just doing it b-because I wanted to.. watch the videos myself.”
She hung her head. “There was no, uh.. no audience. There was nobody watching those. I-I just pretended there was to- uh.. have more fun with the.. the documentary thing. It was stupid, and… weird, and… now I know there’s something w-wrong with me, and Nero will never be proud of me, and… and that’s fine, ‘cause…”
“Maybe not kid, but my point still stands. You shouldn’t let anyone tell you can’t do something because it’s stupid, you get me? Not even your idols. If it’s what you want to do, then you get your ass out there and so it. But just be careful. You’re still 15.”
“Even though he made you cry and give up your dream?” She said with a raised brow. “Look, I may not like you that much, but that was wrong of him to do that to you.”
“I-It wasn’t wrong of him. You even said it. My dream was stupid and crazy. Even though.. I-I really like it.. a-and I miss it already…”
“I-I’d.. I’d, uh, even be thanking him if I wasn’t so s-s-sure he hates me right now.”
“Stupid? Yes. Crazy? Oh definitely. But you still shouldn’t let that stop you. After all, where do you think a lot of these famous people would be if they listened to everyone that said their dream was stupid and that they shouldn’t do it?”
Shimmer’s eye twitched slightly as she took a deep breath in through her nose. “Would you excuse me for a moment?” She asked gently.
Not waiting for a response, she quickly moved away from Savannah and stormed into the woods. With a growl, her anger finally shit through the roof as she let out an inhuman roar, flames spouting from her mouth, destroying nearly everything in front of her.
When she was done, she gently walked back to her and sat down again, pulling her down as well. “Ok, let me make one thing clear kid: Nero is a jackass. I’m sure he means well, but he’s a fucking jackass.”
“Oh, oka–” Savanna just watched as the demon went storming away from her in silence, looking down at her shattered phone and sighing. This might take a while. She wondered what the woman was doing and twiddled her fingers anxiously.
Now that her phone was effectively destroyed, she couldn’t watch any of the precious videos she made.
Not that those mattered, because making them and watching them… wasn’t right.
Then, Shimmer came back, and delivered the news that Nero was a…
“… Oh, no, no, no! Nero’s a descendant of Sparda. He’s amazing.”
“Even though he made you cry and give up your dream?” She said with a raised brow. “Look, I may not like you that much, but that was wrong of him to do that to you.”
SEND “MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE?” TO SLOW DANCE WITH MY MUSE
Well, she sure was pretty. And she looked like the demon ladies from the old grimmoires of the dark ages, something Demencia found appealing. So she didn’t hesitate much to move forward and be at eye-level with the she-demon.
“Madam,” she gave a silly, faux british accent and gave the demon lady both her hands so that they could dance to the song on the radio.
“I gotta say, you are beautiful.” Shimmer said as she slowly moved with woman to music. “Plus, I love your hair. It’s definitely one of the more unique looks I’ve ever seen.” She said with a smile.
“Whoa, whoa! Hey! Easy!” Shimmer said, gently grabbed her and pulled her away. “What did Nero do?”
“.. H-He got mad at me ‘cause I went into the woods without him. But – but I couldn’t help it, I just had to go and… these demons were so huge and cool, and..”
“He caught me. A-A-And.. he started yelling at me, a-and I asked him if he was in my shoes, and he was p-passionate about this, if he’d do it… and he said no, a-and I asked why, and… h-he said it’s cause he’s normal. Th-there.. there really is something wrong with me…”
Shimmer’s eye twitched slightly as she took a deep breath in through her nose.
“Ok, let me make on thing clear kid: Nero is a jackass. I’m sure her means well, but He’s a fucking jackass.”
“Lemme tell ya something kid: recording demons ain’t normal. It’s crazy, stupid, dangerous, and it’s likely to get you brutally murdered if you’re not careful. But…” She said, taking a deep breath. “It’s what you like to do. You still need to be more careful in how you go about recording them, but you shouldn’t let anyone stop you for doing what you wanna do kid.”
“Yes, I sh-sh-should let them. Nero was right,” The words slipped out of her mouth without even noticing it, and Savanna took her phone, setting it on the ground and standing up.
“I-I-It doesn’t matter if it m-makes me happy. It d-d-doesn’t matter if I like to do it. He’s normal and I’m not!”
She began to stomp on the phone, tears streaming from her eyes all over again.
“I-I don’t know why h-h-he ever liked me. It was.. it was pity!”
“Whoa, whoa! Hey! Easy!” Shimmer said, gently grabbed her and pulled her away. “What did Nero do?”
“And? What’s wrong with not being normal? There’s no fun in that.” Shimmer said, bending down on her knees to meet Savannah at eye level. “What happened, kid? You’re usually so… Happy.”
“B.. but I’m not normal. I-I wanna- I just wanna – r-r-record demons and.. watch my videos and… a-and be happy.”
“B-B-But… that’s why.. that’s w-why there’s something wrong with m-me, I guess.”
“N-Nuh.. nobody did anything to m-m-me. It’s my f-fault, ‘cause… I’m just.. it’s… I’m…” She looked at her phone and threw it again, refusing to throw Nero under the bus at the moment because she still believed he was right in what he said.
“I’m n-n..n-n-not normal.”
“And? What’s wrong with not being normal? There’s no fun in that.” Shimmer said, bending down on her knees to meet Savannah at eye level. “What happened, kid? You’re usually so… Happy.”
