āOh.ā Sonata froze and looked at the rose. She took it from Sunsetās hand and twirled it around.Ā āOuch!āĀ
She had pricked her finger on one of the thorns. Without thinking much of it she put her hurt finger to her mouth. But she smiled at the other woman and giggled.Ā āāhank you!ā she told her.Ā ātāsĀ āeatiful!ā
āI⦠Iām glad you like itā¦ā Sunset said with a nervous smile. āI⦠I didnāt know if youād wanna talk to me still after that⦠I just⦠I donāt know what I wouldāve done if you didnāt. Youāve been one of the nicer people Iāve met, and I feel I canāt thank you enough for thatā¦ā
She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear before reaching over and giving the siren a swift kiss on the cheek.
Sonata felt the slightest of blushes from the cheek kiss but
she managed to keep her composure and giggled.
āWhy would I not be nice?ā
She thought about that a little late after saying it.
āWell, I mean besides our being enemies before. Thatās kind
of silly to make that a personal thing. I am a siren. And you were just doing
what you had to do stop me at the time. Soā¦itās likeā¦aha, yeah. Not really something
to take personally.ā
She left out the negative side-effects of her gem breaking.
Or that it was literally a part of her body missing. Like an organ or a heart.
She felt Sunset was suffering enough guilt and trauma right now to have to deal
with that on her back too.
āYou were just defending your friends and school,ā she gave
a sheepish smile. āSo, we can put it behind us, right?ā
“Yeah…” Sunset said trailing off.
“But… Aria did tell me why she needed my blood. For some kind of new heartstone?” Sunset said scratching her ear. “I just… well, to be frank I didn’t give any to her because she did try to stab me. But… Sonata… are you guys ok?”
