Celestia just simply holds her closes.

Oh Sunset…

She places a gentle hand on her cheek.

We both made mistakes in the past… I suppose, we both have our faults in one way or another…

She then wipes the tears from her cheeks, before giving a gentle smile.

One way or another, I forgive you for what happened. I always had because I never stopped giving up on you or stopped loving you, my faithful student…

“I… Oh, gods! I missed you so much!” Sunset cried, digging her face into Celestia’s body, sobbing heavily. “I’m so sorry! I love you! I love you so much! Please don’t go! I don’t want you to go!”

I won’t. I promise you I won’t leave your side, Sunset…

For the next several minutes, Celestia said nothing. It was pitiful to see her former student like this, but it also brought joy to her that she missed her this much. She knew deep down that the little pony she cared for and taught those years ago still cared and loved her so.

She did nothing but embrace Sunset, letting her cry into her, wanting her to get it all out. She knew that Twilight hasn’t heard from her since the Dazzlings were beaten by her, Sunset, and her friends. She had many questions to ask her, but for now, the solar princess simply wanted to enjoy this moment, as she held her close, not wanting to let her go.

She just had her eyes closed, continuously stroking the girl’s hair softly, trying to ease her into smaller sobs to the point she couldn’t cry anymore.

After several minutes, which in her mind felt a longer than that but she didn’t care, she notices that it was a bit calmer now as she opened her eyes and looked down at Sunset, still giving her a gentle smile while continuing to slowly stroke her head, asking in a soft, motherly tone.

Do you feel a little better now, Sunset?

“No… I wanna go home! Please, I don’t wanna stay here anymore! I… I thought they were my friends, but they abandoned me! They wouldn’t listen! I begged them to!” Sunset sobbed. “Mommy, I just wanna go home…”

She was taken back by this. Her friends of this world… abandoned her? The fact she had this outburst, pretty much confirmed why she likely hasn’t said anything to Princess Twilight for sometime.

She didn’t know what to think. How could the friends that gave her a chance after Twilight asked of them for this, having worked together to defeat the Sirens and saved their world, all but just abandon her like this?

Her smile became a frown. She would need to learn more of this for later, but what has been said, Sunset definitely had no place else to go and didn’t want to be here anymore… she wanted to come home to Equestria. She simply held her before nodding.

Alright. We can go home then, Sunset. Now come on, let’s go.

She kept Sunset close to her, knowing she didn’t want to away from her considering how sad… and upset, she was feeling now. So the whole time, Celestia and Sunset made their way back to CHS where the portal back to Equestria was at. She knew it was painful for Sunset to bear having to return there, but the moment they were back in the other world, she hoped Sunset would be a bit more at ease.

Celestia had her arm around her as Sunset leaned against the tall princess, wanting her to feel safer. They could’ve simply teleported back to the portal, but Celestia didn’t want to draw any unwanted attention by doing so, so they had to make a trek back. Thankfully, they weren’t too far from the school, and luckily nobody was around considering it was later in day on the weekend.

The two eventually stood before the statue, as Celestia looked down at Sunset.

We’ll go through together. No doubt Twilight is awaiting for me to return, considering how insistent I was to come here myself to find you. At least she will feel more easy when she sees you are alright as well, my little Sun.

Sunset sniffled, pressing herself closer to Celestia as she said, “Ok…” and braced herself as she prepared to step through the portal, giving her mother a small smile.
