Shimmer quirked an eyebrow up as she said “Well… would you consider giving it a try? Don’t get me wrong, the dress are nice but in today’s world, those are used for important events like dances, balls, and stuff like that. And while some women like me wear jeans, some do wear dresses. But nothing like you’ve got. They’re slimmer, more form fitting, breathable, easier to move and sit down in and even show off a little skin sometimes.” Shimmer said, wrapping an arm around Lillian.
“After all, from what I know about vampires, seduction is a key part in getting your… target, so to speak. And men and women alike aren’t really gonna give you a second glance to you in that dress because they might be laughing too hard, unless you walk up to them, where as they… could come to you. You follow me beautiful?”
“Seduction? Now, that, of all things, sounds like a tall tale about vampires stirred up by desperate men or women who don’t get their desires fulfilled enough,” Lillian shook her head and fluffed her dress furiously.
“That behavior should be reserved for the father figu– … second parental figure of my family, not my meals. I rely on my power to get my drinks, not my flirtatious skill.”
“Why not use both?” Shimmer asked. “If they flirting fail, then resort to power. Besides, its just flirting, it’s not like you have to that them out back and fuck ‘em. Show them a little interest, offer to go somewhere private and when they least expect it… bam! You strike.” Shimmer said, pounding a first into her open palm.
“Plus of you don’t wanna turn them, and the area is out of the way then you’ve got a perfect spot to hide the body. These cops and law enforcement can be… pretty good.” She said. “And if it gets loose that the victim was found drained of their blood with two holes in their neck…” she trailed off, looking distant as she instinctively held Lillian closer to her.
“Well, I know that but you’re also in 2018. As good looking as it is, the style you have is so out of date, people aren’t sure how to react.”
“Out of – uh – OUT OF DATE?”
“As opposed to the mindless body-clinging sacks most of these people are wearing?! The men’s shorts don’t fit them half the time; don’t get me started on the women, deciding pants are a good idea when they’re MEN’S CLOTHING–” She looks to Shimmer, awkwardly laughing. “Ahh.. but they look good on you!”
Shimmer quirked an eyebrow up as she said “Well… would you consider giving it a try? You follow me beautiful?”
“Go away?” She let out a loud snicker, saying “And who are you to stop me? The way I see it, I’m pretty much free to fuck with you all I want. In fact…” she said, raising her hand with a grin.
With a sharp tipped index and middle finger, she ran them along Carrie’s paper, from the bottom to top, splitting her paper in three.
“Wait-!”
Carrie did little more than say that and watch helplessly as the notes she already took were pretty much reduced to little more than waste. There was no way she could turn anything in like that. And, not wanting Shimmer to try anything like that with an actual library book that would cost money, she frantically went to stuff her book into her backpack.
“S.. Stop! If I’m so stupid to you, or.. or whatever, why not just ignore me?”
“Eh, mostly because it’s fun.” She said.
Taking notice of what she doing, she quickly shot out a hand and snagged a nearby book on Carrie’s side, and gave it a look. “"Psychokinesis: the way of the Psion”.“ She quoted. "Huh… now this is interesting…”
“Partner ditch you?” Shimmer said coldly. “I don’t blame them. After all, what could you possibly know about any of this? Isn’t your God supposed to be the answer to it all?” She said with a harsh laugh.
“Oh no,” Carrie whispered, trying to hide her face in her book when she heard Shimmer’s voice. “I.. didn’t get a partner for this. Nobody wanted to.”
She flinched away from the other girl. “Go away.”
“No! No, I’m not gonna leave without you…” she whispered, gently cradling her head gently as Savannah look at her. Never in her life had Shimmer ever felt so much pain, so much heartache… or so much anger.
Wounds now forgotten, she trembled in rage as the temperature in the air seemed to rise. Visible steam rose off Shimmer’s body in wisps as she let out a low snarl. Her eye snapped open and took on a black tint as her fists lit up, black fire crackling in her fists.
The last thing she remember before she black out was lunging at the demon, screaming in a primal rage.
“I-I wonder.. if I’m gonna meet… Sparda~”
She deafened herself to the sounds of Shimmer’s anger and the cries of other creatures, just looking up at the sky and relaxing, even as she felt more blood draining from her body.
“Shimmer’s so.. cool…”
Savanna ended up losing consciousness as well.
All she remembered were blurbs. Flashes of red.
Black.
Yellow.
Screaming.
And… unbelievable pain.
Her arm… she couldn’t feel it. And not like “it’s only broken”, no this… it felt like it had been ripped off.
She remembered taking to the skies… only for more pain to hit her. Then…
A typhoon of fire. One so large, it obliterated the are she was in.
Now…
She felt her eye slowly crack open, and she realized she was in a room of white. In front of her, a large hospital bed, propped down to where she was unable to see it’s occupant. But she did the only thing she could think of before getting up entirely, calling out in a small voice, “S-Sav?…”
Time seemed to slow down as Shimmer heard her gasps and fall to the ground, a large vertical slash appearing right along her back. She looked at her in disbelief before dropping to her knees now, right next to the injured girl.
“S-Sav…” she asked, a gentle tear stream running down her face.
“… The sky is …”
In the grass underneath her, blood from the large slash began to trickle unevenly as she looked at Shimmer.
“Y-Y-You’re.. gonna be o-okay.. okay..? Y-You’re a demon.. a-a big.. tough, demon. Y-You’re gonna go h-home and you’re g-g-gonna be okay…”
“No! No, I’m not gonna leave without you…” she whispered, gently cradling her head gently as Savannah look at her. Never in her life had Shimmer ever felt so much pain, so much heartache… or so much anger.

The last thing she remember before she black out was lunging at the demon, screaming in a primal rage.
“Well, as long as the kid was ok, I don’t care what happens to the guy. Hope you made it painful though.” She said, sitting down in on the chair where Lillian had pointed out. It was soft, softer then anything she had ever sat on. “Oh… shit, this is really comfortable!” She said, with a sigh.
“How old is this chair? Its awesome!”
“I do believe I mentioned his limbs, dear. Of course losing those is painful.”
Lillian’s eyes began to flutter shut as she got comfortable on the couch, preparing to sleep the day through, though also fighting it as she knew she had a guest.
“That… chair… holds very strong sentimental value to me. It was my father’s, specifically. He had a bad back, you see, and sitting on something more tough would have hurt him. So I never sit on it myself, and I rarely let guests have it… unless they’re special, like you~”
Shimmer took notice of Lillian’s eyelids drooping, so she got up from the chair and took a seat next to Lillian, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her in close. “I messed up your sleep schedule, didn’t I?”
“Hey now, I said I’m sorry…” Shimmer said with a slight pout as she entered. “Like I said, I tried to shoot for night but I got lost… besides, if I wanted to see you crawling, I’d want it to be in very different circumstance.” She quipped, flashing a small grin.
“Are you doing well? Other then me… waking you up…”
“Hmmm… I did save someone from being kidnapped, so that was lovely~ There was some bastard at the local – well, they don’t call them orphanages anymore, do they? Either way, he’s gone now. His limbs are – ah, nevermind where his limbs are. The child ran, though…”
Lillian sighed and slowly stumbled into the living room, looking at her rather large couch. Even though it had been hundreds of years, the wear and tear hardly existed, and she was careful in laying down.
“There’s a red chair just across from the fireplace. You may sit there and we can chat a bit.”
“S-s…so… pretty… she whispered out. She could feel it now. It was almost time. She briefly wondered though… would she go to heaven or hell? Guess it was time to find out. “S-Sav… want you… to… be s-safe… always remember what I’ve… told you…” she said, shakily reaching up a hand to lightly boop Savannah on the nose, cracking the smallest of smiles.
“S-Stop talking like y-y-you’re gonna d-die or something, haha..” Savanna nervously laughed, finally starting to break down and cry herself. “Y-You’re okay. You’re j-j-just a little h-hurt. Want m-me to- to take you to a doctor?”
She stood up, trying to lift Shimmer up from beneath her arms and only getting cackled at by the creatures that attacked her.
Shimmer’s sole remaining eye widen at the sound of the demon laughing all around them. She had to get Savannah out of her otherwise theses freaks wouldn’t hesitate to tear her into literally ribbons. She had already killed most of them, but by the time she was halfway through, they had gained a second wind and beaten her into… this.
She groaned in agony as she felt Savannah push herself under her arm, but had had to push through. Eventually, she had found her to her feet, shakey and struggling, but on her feet nonetheless.
“S…Sav… I… I lov…” She tried to say, but her words caught in her throat as tears began to fall. She didn’t wanna die like this, especially not with Savannah here to watch. “You… n-need to… g-go… don’t wanna…. sssee you get… h-hurt…”
“E-Everything’s alright! Shh, shh- don’t c-c-cry!” She took Shimmer’s hand and looked to the sky, pointing at the clouds. “Look. L-Look at the sky. I-I-It’s pretty, right? Shhh.. don’t w-w-worry about anything…”
“S-s…so… pretty… she whispered out. She could feel it now. It was almost time. She briefly wondered though… would she go to heaven or hell? Guess it was time to find out. "S-Sav… want you… to… be s-safe… always remember what I’ve… told you…” she said, shakily reaching up a hand to lightly boop Savannah on the nose, cracking the smallest of smiles.
