“Well, maybe I do know. Maybe I have a special someone in my life who’s just as bad as I am.” Shimmer circled Carrie now, like a shark who smelled blood. “As for me letting the devil use me… well, you’re not wrong. I made a deal with her once, and she’s kept her end. Kinda worth selling my soul.~”
Of course, this wasn’t true at all, but she wasn’t about to tell Carrie of all people the truth of her nature.
“The devil’s.. a ‘her’..? But the bible says-!” Carrie’s face flushed with embarrassment at even bringing up the bible at this point, but she had already brought religion into this, so there was no use putting up too much of a fight. “W.. What did you sell your soul for..?”
She was going more pale as she tried to turn and face Shimmer, her strange appearance making more and more sense now.
“What did the devil do for you..?”
“The bible?” Sunset said with a twisted grin. “Carrie, while I’m glad you like a book, don’t you think that the Devil can look like whoever the Devil wants to look like. But I won’t lie… she was hot. I’d’ve fuckes her if I wasn’t busy that day.”
“But to answer your question, she gave me this…” Shimmer said, and made a large flame appear in the palm of her hand.
“That’s because they’re too afraid to ask me, because they’ll know I’ll reject them, on the fucking spot. I could care less about some stupid high school dance. It’s a waste of time anyway.” Shimmer said casually, buffing her nails on her coat. “Just a bunch of sweaty kids packed in a gym, thinking they love and care about one another.”
“Love is more than that! It’s.. um..” Carrie shook her head and looked away from her. “Someone as hateful as you could never know. You’re letting the devil use you. N… Now go away – I wanna be alone right now.”
“Well, he must be blind as a bat, stupid, or full of pity for you. My guess is all three.” Shimmer said. “In all honesty, I’m surprised you even know what prom is. Is your mommy gonna be a chaperone too?~” she said in a mocking voice, holding her hands to her cheek.
Carrie’s eyes widened in panic at the mention of her mother, before narrowing and glaring daggers at her tormentor. Despite her meek nature, discovering her powers had made her a little more confident than usual.
“I bet nobody’s… asked you.”
“Oh! Oh, this I gotta hear!” Shimmer said with a grin, getting up I Carrie’s face. “Oh,God! Please! Tell me what I could possibly be jealous about!” She said with a cackle.
“… ‘Cause I got asked to prom by one of the most handsome people in the school.” Carrie said matter-of-factly, crossing her arms at the other, but lowering her head with a lack of confidence.
She rubbed at her eyes, only cringing when she noticed the other there. It seemed she was always showing up at the worst of times (or making something a bad time).
“… S-So? I think y-you’re just jealous …” Maybe Carrie could actually use what she was so upset over to fight back, though. “’Cause…”
“Oh! Oh, this I gotta hear!” Shimmer said with a grin, getting up I Carrie’s face. “Oh,God! Please! Tell me what I could possibly be jealous about!” She said with a cackle.
She just wants to find a place where she can be alone and release some of her pent-up emotions – the problem is actually getting there without getting caught by somebody else, in a position more vulnerable than she already was.
“Ah, dear, it’s so… new~” Lillian forces a smile, uncomfortable with the prospect of wearing something so different, but forcing the jacket onto herself anyway. It hardly fit and she could feel it putting an uncomfortable amount of pressure on her arms.
“So lovely~”
Sunset instantly noticed the discomfort on the vampires face as she tried on the jacket… “Damn, I’m sorry Lillian… I just… thought you looked a little cold…”
