A Small Guide to Tumblr RP Etiquette

This isn’t a meme, but I felt like I should point some of these things out. Especially since this blog has over 500 followers for some goddamn reason, so this’ll probably get around faster.

• Have a rules page and about page, especially if you’re playing an OC. If you’re playing a canon muse, you should still have an about, but with OCs it’s extremely important to have an about as the people you’re interacting with would know nothing about your muse otherwise, and that makes interaction much more difficult than it should be.
• READ *claps* PEOPLES *claps* RULES *claps* AND *claps* ABOUT *claps* PAGES. I cannot stress this enough, these people have rules and about pages for a reason. Not reading someones rules is not only inconsiderate, but it can also get you blocked because you broke a rule you would have known about if you actually took the time to read their rules.
• Don’t make your first message to someones IMs be just “wanna rp?”. I’m sure they’ll appreciate you being forward, but it’s kind of impersonal and can really throw someone off.
• NEVER REPLY TO A FULL/MULTI PARAGRAPH REPLY WITH A ONE-LINER. This is a problem I’ve dealt with in the past, and I can tell you that it’s incredibly frustrating. Sending one-liners back and forth for fun is one thing, but replying to a long thought out reply with a single sentence is just one of the absolute stupidest things you can do, and is a surefire way of killing someones muse for a thread. Don’t do this.
• Make sure whether or not an open starter/starter call is mutuals only before reblogging it. I feel like this is self-explanatory, but there are people who have reblogged mutuals only starter calls from people they’re not mutuals with and asking if it’s okay, so apparently it’s not.
• Do not ask for smut with someone you’ve never interacted with before. Now, I myself have never had this problem, but I know people who have. Do not do this. It’s a surefire way of making someone very uncomfortable, and you’ll mostly likely get blocked if you persist, that is if you didn’t get blocked immediately, which is also very likely.

These are only some of the things you need to know, and I’m sorry if I sounded aggressive, but these are all very important. Tumblr wasn’t made for RPing, but we’re here RPing on it anyway, so please don’t make this any more frustrating than it already is. We’re here to have fun.
