“Four weeks ago it would have interested me. In fact, I’d probably be trying to beat you into the ground for it. But now… fuck ‘em.” Sunset said, taking the card from Blanks hand, giving it a once over before stuffing it in her jacket pocket. “The way I see it, whatever God is up there can bite me.“

She snatched the bottle from the table and slugged down a good quarter of it before getting up, a light stumble in her steps. “As for the whole “lack of restraint” thing? That’s just it. My restraint is keeping my dark side in check. If she gets out, I won’t be able to stop her. Like… Jekyll and Hyde but with more dark magic.“

“You’re confusing failed method with failed ability” Blank shot back, gaze going up and down in tune with her drunken steps. “Your mistake is thinking you’re in control by doing this. You’ve diverted the flow, but you haven’t controlled a single thing in this river of depression you seem content to paddle along” Blank explained, tracing a line across the table with his nail. The line went in all directions, but it was only diversion, and not control. Having made his point, his hands returned to his pockets.

“That card holds the address to your problems. Maybe it’d behoove you to look into solving those first, instead of dealing with your non-existent dark magic problem. You are not the problem here, so why focus your energies inward?”

‘Behoove?’ Sunset thought with a raised brow, before chuckling to herself. “You know… you sound like my mother. She always said "There is no light or dark magic. Magic is just that: magic. It’s what you do with it that make it light or dark.”“

"Well Agent Smith- I mean, Mr. Blank, to one again quote the great Wade Wilson, "If I ever hit "fuck it”, I’ll look you up.“ She said with a grin and a made a quick finger gun motion to the man. Suddenly, she snapped her fingers and said, "This isn’t really a quote now, but we really are within 500 feet of school, so you might wanna tread carefully.” She said with a chuckle.

“Your mother was a wise woman. Listen to her voice on the wind…” Blank said, waving his hand through the air with a chuckle. He didn’t drop the smile as he was mocked, just nodding slowly.

“Well, I work at a school. Substitute teacher. I would think that I would be well within school grounds. A girl shoving her face into the bottom of a keg of beer is probably far more dangerous to school grounds.” Blank raised his own finger gun and mouthed “bang”. Timed with that he dug his other hand into the tabletop. No, not his hand, but a knife he had drawn out casually. Nonchalantly, Blank carved the words “Sunset Shimmer” into the table top before putting the knife away.

“I could force your hand, you know. Have you kicked out for the destruction of private property. I don’t want to do that, but I will if that’s what it takes to get an eagle like you to spread her wings.” Right now, he rested his coated arm over the vandalized counter, hiding it for use as leverage.

"It’s a whiskey bottle, dude. If you’re gonna make fun, get your shit right.” She said with a grin. “Besides, I hate beer. That’s shit smells like old, moldy bread.”

Sunset stared at the man, the grin slowly morphing into anemotionless look on her face before it slowly crept right back on. “Ooooh… tryin’ to blackmail me, huh?” She said, still smirking. “Welp, that ain’t really gonna work. I’ve know the owner of the bar for a while now, so all I have to do is pay for the damages and I’ll be good.”
