‘Oh, sweet Celestia, why today of all days?’ Sunset thought to herself as she ran her hands down her face.
“Look, I know what this looks like and how this is gonna sound, but I’ve had a really bad few weeks so far, and since tonight was no exception I really don’t like like sugarcoating it.” She shot a stern gaze at her double as she picked up her guitar, securing it to her back with the backpack like straps that were on the case. She popped her neck once with a slight pained hiss before continuing.
“Yes. My name is Sunset Shimmer. I was born in Canterlot, Equestria in a dimension where I am a small yellow unicorn. I came here through an interdimensional portal which is located in the statue of Canterlot High School. And don’t ask if it works or if you can go through, because it’s currently shut down, so you can’t.”
As Sunset saw her double pick up the guitar and secure it, she steeled herself to an explanation she wasn’t going to like. And like clockwork, it came to be. She went silent for the next few seconds; after which she shook her head, but spoke in a more amiable tone.
“You know exactly how that sounds, so I’m not gonna say anything. What I can say is that if you’re still going with a story as ludicrous as this… You’re not actually trying to fool me. If you were, you would have been stupid: and I can’t see you’re not.“
Was that egotistical to say when she looked just like Sunset herself? She didn’t think much of it. Instead, she sighed and rubbed her temple, shaking her head again in disbelief.
“It’s crazy, you– you just reacted like I did last week after the car crashed and I got an earful from my boss the whole week while having to pay it off. Now, I’m not saying I believe you… But so long as you’re not trying to pull the rug on me, I can play along until I get to the bottom of this.“
She now smiled- or tried to. It was stiff, unlike the condescending smile from earlier. Almost seemed like she was not used to doing it. Deciding she was better off trying to get info off of the streets, Sunset decided to suggest something.
“Well, sucks that we’re both having bad weeks. Wanna grab a drink or something and vent? We’ll make everyone think they’re drunk and seeing double if we show up- Ah, wait, do we even happen to have the same age? You a minor?“
“I’m legal.” Sunset said as she adjusted her guitar case on her back once more. “Trust me, if I wasn’t then I wouldn’t have been in that bar.” She said with a wryly grin. “Took some time to get some legit looking paperwork though. And a lot of money, but thankfully I have both. Getting my M-Class license though, that was a hassle I don’t wanna talk about again.” She said with a sigh.
She gave her counterpart another one over before saying “I know a bar over on Stewart Street. I’m in tight with the owner, so we’ll be covered on drinks for the night. Besides, I know you’ve got some questions like I do.”
She stared off in the distance for a moment before beginning to walk down the street, calling out to her double, “You know, it’s funny. I honestly thought you were dead. I looked everywhere online for you and came up with nothing.”
