From everything Autumn knew about sleep and people, that was bad. Very bad. Sunset was probably hallucinating at this point.
“Sunset, we’ve got to get you to sleep lickety-split then. Why don’t you lie down and I’ll make you some hot cocoa?”
“NO!” She shouted. “Its still there! Mocking me!”
She snarled at the open air, blurting out “It’s the Russians, I tell you! They did something! And they… they sent the PENGUIN!!”
“Sunset, I don’t know how to break this to you, but that penguin isn’t going to leave you alone until you get some proper sleep. The Russians too. The longer you’re awake, the more they win. Does that make sense?”
“NO! Have to… Have to stay awake… HAVE TO STAY AWAKE!” She cried. “If I close my eyes… it SEES ME! Can’t fall asleep! DON’T WANT TO!”
