Despite the abundance of demons still attacking and everything else going on, the child came rushing toward her and fell to her knees, holding onto the other’s arm and shaking her gently as her eyes filled with tears.
“P-P-Please get up. P-Please g-get up, Shimmer. Y-Y-You’ll be okay. You’ll always b-b-be.. okay. You’re a d-demon too. G-G-Get up. Don’t die. Don’t die. Don’t die…”
She soon gives up on pleading… gives up entirely, and just lays beside Shimmer, cuddling up to her bleeding body and shutting her eyes… trying to distance herself from the fact that anything bad is happening at all.
“I-I-I like.. Shimmer’s hair. I-I-I like deer. I like… deer. I-I like demons, I-I like… I like kitties… I like blood. N-No, no, I don’t like– I like.. the sky…”
She felt like she was floating. There was nothing… just… a void. A void of darkness… no pain… no fear… no Savannah… wait… what…
Shimmer cracked open her good eye, the other on completely missing from her skull, and looked over at the crying girl. No… what was she doing here?! “Sa… Sav… Yo… need… goooo…” she rasped out, a small trail of blood leaking from her mouth. She desperately tried to raise a bloody hand but she could only get it up half way.
