“You have pretty eyes.” (For Sonata)

Sonata kept her guard up around Sunset. It was a nice thing to say, sure. But this was still the reason she and her sisters were basically starving these days.

“…thanks,” she said swiftly. “You do too,” she couldn’t help but add. “I really like your hair.”

Sunset scoffed at the word “pals”. “Pals… Please. They weren’t my friends.” She said as she sat down next to her. “Turns out when push came to shove, even after everything I did for them… They still thought I was the same old bitch from back when.” She quickly wiped her eyes and looked at the siren. “They just… Ditched me. Left me crying my eyes out in the hallway.”

Sonata’s brows furrowed. This struck deep. Deep, deep down to the bone of being. To be taken in and held close and told one was worthy of something and then left…left alone.

Before she knew what she was doing she had taken Sunset’s hand gently.

“People do that sometimes. They put you high in the sky on a pedestal. So high it’s unfair. And when you’re up there, there’s no way you can balance with all the gold and jewels they’ve given you to carry. So you trip and you fall and crash back down to the earth. And it hurts. Then they see that you’re not on that that pedestal or in the sky and they become angry and they leave you there in a heap…”

She set the other young woman’s hand down and patted it gently. “It’s not your fault. People can be cruel,” her voice sounded choked, wiser perhaps than she let on.

“That’s… That’s really fuckin’ wise. And so true… But I don’t blame them for suspecting me. I did so much bad shit to everyone at that school. I ruled it with an iron fist. Until Princess Twilight brought me down, I thought I’d be unstoppable…”

She gently squeezed the sirens hand and continued. “I know what I did was wrong, but… They promised me a second chance… I thought they would at least give me the benefit of the doubt but… They just…” She trailed off, sniffling gently to herself.
