Sunset sniffled, pressing herself closer to Celestia as she said, “Ok…” and braced herself as she prepared to step through the portal, giving her mother a small smile.
She smiled as the two entered the portal together.
On the other side, Twilight was pacing a bit back and forth, worried about the Princess, and Sunset. The fact she hasn’t heard anything from her friend for a couple months boggled her, and when Celestia requested to go there to the human world herself, she was, naturally, shocked.
Her thought is snapped back to reality when she heard the machine of the portal kick on as the magic begins to transfer from the journal to the mirror. Soon, there emerged not just one, but two ponies.
The Princess herself, in her natural alicorn form once more, and the smaller orange mare with the red and yellow mane. Twilight gasped in surprise.
Princess Celestia! Sunset! You’re back!
The purple alicorn grinned brightly as she approached the two. Celestia smiled softly at the younger princess.
I have Twilight. And of course, I was able to find Sunset, though…
She frowned, before murmuring to herself.
I wish it was under better circumstances…
Twilight goes and hugs Sunset tightly, having missed her since her last visit to the human world.
Sunset, I’m just glad to see you are okay.
Sunset held her friend tighter, wrapping her hooves around her and lightly cried into her shoulder. “I’m so sorry Twilight. It’s just… It’s been really hard here recently. I just… I couldn’t stay there anymore…”
Twilight looked at her with a worried look.
Sunset…?
Celestia then clears her throat, getting their attention.
Perhaps we should go and sit down somewhere and get this all out of the open. I am just as concerned about this Twilight.
She laid her hoof upon Sunset’s back. Twilight looks at them and nods, frowning. Just what happened when she left?
Let’s go over to the library. It’ll be more comfortable there.
With that, the three made their way to the library. She wanted to give Sunset a tour of the castle, but considering how somber Sunset was feeling wanting to get away from the human world.
Eventually they found themselves in the library sitting nearby each other on the couch, with Celestia sitting beside Sunset.
Twilight just looked over to her friend.
Now Sunset.
Celestia spoke up in her gentle tone.
I know you went through a lot, and this is a pretty difficult time now. I know you likely don’t want to explain what happened between you and your friends, but we have to know exactly why you were desperate to leave the place that was your home for several moons now.
But also know, you don’t have to feel like you are alone anymore. I’m here and so is Twilight… we can help you get through this difficult, and heartbreaking, time for you…
Twilight didn’t like what was heard.
Sunset… what exactly happened after we beat the Dazzlings during the Battle of the Bands?
“It… It was going well. We hadn’t seen them for a while, but now… A lots happened.”
Sunset took a deep breath and laid it all out on the table for Twilight and Celestia: the slumber parties, Anon-a-Miss, her friends calling her out in the hallway. Her eyes grew misty when she told them about her final talk with her former friends at Sugarcube Corner and their refusal to once again listen to her when she said she know who was behind Anon-a-Miss.
