If it hadn’t have been for the fact that she had to pass the portal to get home, she probably would’ve never heard the girl come through the portal. Peaking over, she heard the girl talking and asking herself where she was. Sunset took that as her cue to speak up. “You’re at Canterlot High. Umm…. Who are you?”
Fionna gets up easily enough, she doesn’t even seem wobbly, “My name is Fionna. Um, why are you Yellow?” She looks around at the rainbow colored people, “Everyone here is the same colors as those ponies in the world I just left.”
Sunset was stunned silly. “Wait, you just can from Equestria?” She asked. “Are you not from there?”
Fionna cleans some grass from her skirt, “Nope. I come from a place called Aaa. My name is Fionna.” She smiles and extends her hand to the strange yellow girl.
“I’m Sunset Shimmer.” She said, taking the girls hand. “So… How did you get here exactly?” She asked.
Fionna sighs and sits on the grass next to the statue, leaning against one of the corners, “Well, I was minding my own business, on my way home from another adventure, when suddenly this hole appears in the middle of the sky and I get sucked through. I land in a castle made out of crystals, and there is this pink unicorn with a purple mane there. She says she didn’t mean to bring me there, but then I notice I had hooves, not hands. I kinda panicked and ran She chased me until I came across another pink pony with a cannon. I dodged the cannon and ended up in this room with a mirror. I slipped on the slick floor and fell through to here.”
Fionna smiles to Sunset, “But at least the first person I met here was nice to me.”
Sunset let out ‘snerk’ as she said, “Ok, first you probably shouldn’t have panicked as much as you did, but I don’t blame you. I panicked to when I first came here and found out I didn’t have hooves anymore since I’m from that world. As for the canon, it’s nothing to worry about. Pinkie calls it her “Party Cannon”.
Fionna nods and blushes, “Well, I’ve been pulled through different dimensions before but never turned into a pony like that. So, this is a high school. I’ve read about them before, but back home there are no schools. After the mushroom war, they just disappeared.”
Sunset froze as she heard the words “mushroom war”. “I’m sorry, did you say there was a war?”
Fionna nods, “Yeah, but that was a very long time ago.” She looks up at Sunset, “Um, I hope I don’t sound too forward, but I really don’t have a place to stay, and I was wondering if I could crash at your place for the night?”
“Hey, you just popped through a portal into another world.” Sunset said. “I wouldn’t expect you to have a place to stay, so sure. I’ve housed someone from my world before, so it’s no problem.”
Fionna smiles as she gets up, “Thanks Sunset. I really appreciate this.” She smooths out her skirt and smiles, “I’m glad you found me. I’d hate to, oh I don’t know, have to sleep here at the school.”
“Good luck with that. I had to do that for a while when I first got here, until I found out how much real gold is worth. After that, I was pretty much set. I’ve even got my own little apartment in town. My roommate is out of country for the month though. Had to take care of some family business.$
Fionna smiles, “Really, well.” She looks around, “I’ll show you when I get back to your place. Care to lead the way?”
“Of course. Are you hungry or anything like that?” Sunset asked.
Fionna smiles brightly, “Oh yes, please. I haven’t had a good meal since Breakfast.”
“Ok!” She reached into her pocket to fish out her motorcycle keys, but paused as she remembered something. “Um, you don’t mind a walk, do you? My bike is at the shop getting repairs.”
Fionna smiles as she gets up, “ Not at all, I usually walk everywhere.” She steps over to Sunset and smiles, “So, where are we going to eat?”
“Well, what would you like to eat? I know a good burger place a few blocks down from here. My treat!”
Fionna nods, “Burgers sound great.”
“Alright!” Sunset said.
As she started walking, she looked over at Fionna and asked “So, what’s it like in… Aaa, was it? It’s gotta be beautiful of you’re from there.”
Fionna smiles warmly at Sunset’s flirting and nods, “Some parts are. The Candy Kingdom is kinda nice, and so is the field where my tree house is. Though the ruins from the Mushroom war aren’t very nice.”
Sunset nodded as she listened, asking “Um, so what exactly is The… Mushroom War, you called it?”
