Sunsets eyes scoured the shelves, frantically seeming to search for one item in particular. She had heard online that this was one of the best places to get stuff and ingredients for alchemy and need to have ingredients for spells, but during most of her time in this world, she had quickly learned that the magic she had come to know and learn from her home, and the magic here on earth were two very different things.
Unfortunately for her, the city of Canterlot didn’t exactly have anything worthwhile for alchemy. So, she figured after seeing said add, a trip to Jump City was in order. She could morthen more then afford it, especially after Twilight sent her the remaining gold bits left in Sunset’s personal bank account back in Equestria.
Now here she was, still looking for the certain item when a girl who definitely looked like she needed more time in the sun came up to her. "Umm… Well, to be honest, I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for. I need four ounces of Fire Salt, some Histcarp aaaaand…“
She paused, taking a moment to pull out an old looking book, which had obviously seen better days. Thankfully the portal hadn’t altered it in any way when Twilight had sent it to her. “Ah! And a Jarrin Root.“
Raven glanced down at the book, an eyebrow raising as the odd energies she could feel coming off of it, but she put it out of her mind. Being nosy wasn’t her trait, that was Beast Boy’s. The girl seemed to know at least a bit of what she was talking about, and despite her contemporary fashion that gave no indication that she could know anything of alchemy or witchcraft, the half demon decided to help. She’s been here countless times before, she knew the store like the back of her hand.
A pale hand gestured for the other to follow, turning on her heel to take steps towards another part of the store that housed the fresher herbs. She pointed up to a shelf about a foot above them. “Jarrin Root will be up there,” she assured, before moving a short ways down the assortment of plants to the section that housed the inorganic ingredients, searching for a short moment before grasping a small container of Fire Salt and handing it over.
“Histcarp should be in the back,” Raven added. “You can ask the storekeeper, Josephine, for help. She doesn’t like to put the fish out on the store floor.” A pause before curiosity gives way. “Planning on making something in particular?”
"Oh, it’s just a simple little energy restoration potion. Helps boost my stamina a bit too. I’ve made it a few times back where I used to live, but I haven’t made it since I-"
She had to cut herself short, almost letting slip she was from another world. She just met this person and she didn’t want her to think Sunset was insane. Getting sent to the loony bin was definitely not on her list of things to do. ”…Since I was a little girl.“ She finished. "I might be a little rusty, which is why I had a friend of mine mail over this.” She said, gesturing to the book.
She gave the woman a small smile, and took the salt from her. Her fingertips gently grazed the girls palms for a second, and she felt… cold. But that must’ve been her imagination. But still, curiosity are at her and she had to know if that was a fluke or not. So, she moved the fire salt to her left hand stuck out her right to the girl. “I’m Sunset Shimmer, by the way.”
Cheyloe expected this to be like any other day: going home and enjoying some alone time before her friends came back from their outings. Instead, as luck would have it, she came across a girl sprawled across the ground for unknown reasons. Was she attacked? Was this a medical condition? She couldn’t say…but she knew she had to make sure she was alive.
Chey leaned over her and gently shook her shoulder. “Hey…hey, are you all right? Can you tell me who you are?”
Sunset groaned lightly as she felt herself get shaken, pain slowly crawling through her body. Fists clenching, she let out a groan as she tried to crawl to her hands and feet, but a harsh wave of nausea took over and she felt a bitter, metallic taste fill her mouth and she spat out a glob of blood.
If she had taken the time to notice her reflection in a small pool of water near her, she almost wouldn’t be able to recognize herself. Small cuts and bruises littered her face, and her jacket was in near tatters. Blood poured from a small gash right above her eyes, causing her eye to shut, stinging from the blood.
“N-nuh… no… time… need to help… her…” she groaned as she desperately tried to get to her feet.
