The last thing Sunset expected to see was something so… well equipped. “Wow…” she said in awe as she approached the turnstile. “This place looks aw- oof!” She let out a soft grunt as her abdomen hit the turnstile, feeling it not budge. She gripped it in her hands and gave it a hard tug, grunting slight.

Finally she gave up and with a grunt, she quickly gave a side jump over it and landed gracefully on her feet. “Hehe… sorry. Anyways, this place is awesome! How long have you four been down here?”

{~🔬  Donatello hides a subtle laugh behind his hand, but let her move on her own. A gentle smile crossing over his features as he waits for her to join him before moving toward his lab.

      “Well, our lives honestly. Our Father kept us down here to keep us safe there were…beings that wanted to take us because of what we were…he didn’t want that so we just kind of…built our home down here.”

  Donatello lifts his shoulders in a shrug, as if it’s no big deal. This place is home, it always has been and always will be.

  Opening the door, he reveals a make shift lab that had all the tools of a real lab but held the look of a garage found at an auto shop. All kinds of half built trinkets and even full inventions. Notes, blueprints scattered around, books and different vials that held different chemicals.

      “Sorry about the…chaos, I didn’t have time to really organize anything. My motion sensors went off and I wanted to check and see what it was. Normally it’s just a homeless person seeking shelter from the weather that wandered to close but never actually made it this far.”      🔬~}

Sunset ran her fingertips along the punching bag resting in a corner, made to look like a makeshift human. Taking a quick stance, her right fist shot out at the bag in a blur, a loud “CRACK!” echoing through the lair, almost sounding like a gunshot, the bag swinging violently back and forth. “Huh… seems sturdy enough…” Sunset said to herself, popping her knuckle.

“What, like the government?” She asked with a raised brow as she made her way into the lab.

When she entered, she almost lost her breath. “Wow…” she said in awe. “Donnie, this is awesome!” She gave a small jog over to where a giant tank looking thing sat at one end of the room. “Where did you get all this she asked, turning away from the vehicle and now looking at the various things strewn about.

“Oh… there are more of you?” Sunset asked curiously. “I mean, meeting a walking turtle isn’t the strangest thing I’ve ever gone through. If we’re comparing strangeness, then I’ll probably take the whole cake.”

“And I take it Mikey is a friend of yours?” She asked, looking behind her ever so often… just in case.

{~🔬  Donnie glances over at her, and gives a sheepish laugh. Gently rubbing the back of his head in nervousness before shifting his gaze away.

      “Yeah, my brothers and me. There’s four of us. My eldest brother is Leonardo but you can call him Leo. My second eldest brother is Raphael, also known as Raph. My younger brother is Michelangelo, the one I mentioned as Mikey.”

            He stops at the turnstiles which lead to a place that looks akin to living area.

Very similar to how a home would look, television, couch, video games, even a training area. The soft sounds of an arcade game fills the otherwise silent lair.

      “C’mon Sunset. My lab is over here.”

  Effortlessly leaping over the turnstile, the purple banded turtle carefully turns to look back to see if she might need some help getting over or through them.  🔬~}

Sunset looked up at Donatello as he stood to his full height. Whoa. He was… tall. She stood up next to him and gave him a soft smile as she said. “Well, it’s nice to meet you Donnie. My name is Sunset. Sunset Shimmer. A bit strange, I know but… yep.”

“So… what exactly are these things?” Sunset asked.

{~🔬 Donnie starts walking toward the lair, making sure to keep the girl close to him so she doesn’t fall behind or get lost in the sewers again. Though it is troubling to find out that the squirrel-a-noids are back. Mikey will definitely not like that…not that he doesn’t have a way to stop them. It will be tracking them down that’s the issue.

      “They were regular squirrels before the got into some mutagen that was scattered across the city. We were trying to track it down before that happened but…unfortunately we were unable to get to all of them in time which resulted in…the mutated squirrels.”

  He crosses his arms over his plastron and narrows his eyes a bit before slipping from the sewer into the abandoned subway portion that led to the lair.

      “Mikey dubbed them the squirrel-a-noids from his alien genre comic books…which were strangely accurate and aided in clearing them out the first time.”

                            Maybe he should get his brothers expertise once more…      🔬~}

At this point, Sunset didn’t even care about the fact that her new acquaintance’s hand felt massive on her shoulder, but it was comforting nonetheless. She took a deep, shaky breath and gently rubbed her hand against the being’s before tucking some stray hair behind her ear.

“I… oh, sweet Celestia, I probably sound insane, but… it look like some kind of… like some giant fucking mutated squirrel looking thing. Like something out of a horror movie!” She said.

“I thought I was gonna die down here, but… I’m just happy to see someone else down here. Thank you…” She trailed off, unsure what to call the new person.

{~🔬  Donnie gives her a gentle smile, chestnut eyes softening even more as her hand starts to gently caress the top of his. As if reaffirming the fact that he is actually there and will protect her. He will definitely do his best to protect her from whatever it is that’s chasing her.

  Though his eyes widen just a fraction at the ‘mutated squirrel’ statement. His green skin seems to blanch just a bit. It can’t be…the squirrel-i-noids are still in the sewers?!

  Well of course, Mikey just drained them further down (which he hoped would have lead them to the river where they would have drowned).

  Shaking out of his thoughts he lets a smile form on his lips once more before and stands to his full height.

      “I’m Donatello, but if it’s easier you can call me Donnie. And the mutated squirrel isn’t the most insane thing I’ve heard of or…experienced. But I think I know what will help. J-just follow me. I think I have something that may help.”      🔬~}
