“Sunset?” she replied, finishing her morning stretching. “You’re Shimmer’s other side, eh?”
She circled the redhead and surveyed her. She was shorter than the demon, seemed more more mellow. But she still had a bad girl charm to her and of course she was pretty.
“I’m Demencia, hehe.”
“Yep. I’m Sunset. And well, she’s really more of my other side. She was… oh boy. How she came to be is a long story.” She said, taking a deep breath. “But she decided to give me a few days to myself, so I figured I’d meet the second love of my sister’s life.” She said with a smile. “And wasn’t kidding about you being pretty too.” She a small wink and held out a hand for the lizard lady to shake.
“It’s alright, Shimmy. Just a nightmare. I’ll be fine,” she gave a nervous smile. “Go back to beddy-bye.”
She snuggled back into the pillow to pretend she was about to do the same.
But Shimmer didn’t. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Demencia’s waist, gently running her hands along her belly in small little movements. She nuzzled her head in Dementia’s neck, giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Well, I can’t now. I don’t want you to go through that again. You were on the verge of screaming, Dem…”
“Aw… I’m sorry Dem, I… I didn’t mean to…” Shimmer then took the lizard in a hug, pulling her into her lap. “If it makes you feel better, I kinda know how you feel…”
She hugged her close and let her chin rest on Shimmer’s shoulder comfortably.
“Really?” she asked, curiosity stirring.
“Mhm. She’s… she’s really awesome. And an alien, believe it or not! She’s to me what Black Hat is to you. I’d give my life for her in an instant and do whatever I can to see her happy. Not that I would do that same for you, but… I really care about her.” Shimmer said, nuzzling her head against Dom’s.
“And she’s green too, so that’s pretty sweet. And she’s… like… really really hot. Figuratively and literally too.”
“Yours is even cooler than mine!” Demencia admitted. A big deal for one so boastful. But it was true in her eyes. “May I touch the Shimmery mane?” she asked, batting her eyes mostly just to be cute. She knew she had permission and usually she would just go and bury her face in someone’s hair without their consent. But Shimmer was special.
Shimmer let out a small giggle as she saw Demencia bat her eyes at her. Holy fuck that was cute. How could she say no to that?
“Mmm, you may… but only for a kiss.~” she said, tapping her lips with a fingertip and a grin.
“Easy! Switching Flug’s regular coffee with this super espresso!”
“Then I’m going to go walk Johan before it gets really hot outside. He likes going for a stroll in the early morning. Wanna come with?”
“Sure!” Shimmer said, wrapping an arm around Demencia’s waist. “But… who’s Johan?”
“He’s my lizard!” Demencia told her. “You’ll love him. Just wait.”
She whistled. At first there was nothing then the clamor of feet on the ceiling alerted the women that a new creature had entered the lab. A large reptile, resembling a komodo dragon with frills on its neck with suction cups large and strong enough to hold it up, looked down at them.
“Ready for your walk!” Demencia called up to him.
The lizard seemed to smile and then crawled down the wall before circling Shimmer curiously.
“Don’t worry. He only bites people who bug or attack me, hehe.”
Shimmer looked up on the ceiling before she saw the lizard. As it circled her, she let out a gasp, say “Awwwww! He’s so CUUUUTE!”
Demencia’s jaw tightened like she had been caught saying something foul. But she didn’t deny it or shy from it. She nodded her head quietly. “Mhhmm. I do.”
Shimmer slowly walked over to the lizard lady and gently poked her cheek. Blinking a few times, she quickly reached out with a claw and stabbed herself in the sharp “Ow!” but made no other move. “I… I don’t understand… I’m not supposed to be loved… nobody loves me back… and this… this isn’t a dream…” she said, tears prickling ar the corners of her eyes.
