Shimmer’s brow furrowed in concern as she looked over at Savannah. She let out a sigh, running a hand through her hair. “Well, you know just as much as I do. She won’t tell me anything. And a small bottle of Jack of you got it.”

She moved over to where Savannah was sitting, and she gently tapped her on the side, saying “Ok, scoot over squirt, I’m sitting next to ya now.”

“This is really startin’ to scare me, actually, migh’ get her a therapi–”

“I don’t n-need a THERAPIST!”

The man staggered back, taking a deep breath. “M-Mama of Sparda, girl, don’tcha scream a’ me like tha’ or yer not allowed t’ go outsi– … you’re goin’ t’ yer room– … yer already doin’ both those things, what am I s’posed t’…”

He sighed and started hobbling into the shop. “Ah jus’ wanna help, kid.”

Shimmer shot a glare at the old man as she raised a finger. “Look,” she said, “I appreciate you looking after her, but that’s the LAST thing she needs.” She stated with a growl.

Her voice got softer as she looked back over at Savannah, a small smile on her face. “Hey, Sis. Look, I know something is wrong, but I won’t have you talk about it if you don’t want to. How about we go do something together, huh? You always wanted me to go out to a restaurant with you right?”

“Hey, wait!” Shimmer called, making her way to the shop. She had never really know where it until she followed Sav one day. Looks like she was still glum. But about what?

She gave Savannah’s hair a slight ruffle, shooting her a small smile before she entered, asking “Are you… Joseph?”

“Joseph Allen, prou’ owner of th’ Huntin’ Hole. … Kiddo, wave th’ sign a bit, would ya? If y’ look all sad like this, the shop’s gonna look sad.”

Savanna’s expression didn’t even twitch as her hair was ruffled, and she only gave the sign a small, pathetic shake. “.. O-Okay ..”

“… No, ah’m really worried ‘bout her. She’s never like this. Hasn’ been eatin’ or drinkin’, or even goin’ out explorin’. It’s been two days an’ she won’ tell me what’s goin’ on.” He rubs his eyes, just then noticing how red Shimmer is, and assuming it’s a sunburn due to poor eyesight. “.. Wan’ me ta get ya some water too? Kiddo, you bet’ start drinkin’ that or I’m dockin’ yer pay.”

Shimmer’s brow furrowed in concern as she looked over at Savannah. She let out a sigh, running a hand through her hair. “Well, you know just as much as I do. She won’t tell me anything. And a small bottle of Jack of you got it.”

Sunset swore loudly as the she picked herself up off the ground, lifting her fallen bike with ease. Well, that was a good start to the getting. At least almost getting hit by a truck, getting run off the road, and winding up in a ditch woke her up.

Making her way to the side, she checked herself and her bike to make sure she hadn’t lost anything important, and hopped back on, sticking the key in the ignition, pressed down on the clutch and twisted. Only for it not to start. “What?!” She cried. “No! No, no, no, no, no!! Don’t do this to me now baby, please!” She twisted it a few more times before letting out a curse so loud birds flew off of nearby trees.

She gave one last, hard kick to the clutch, and at long last, the engine sputtered to life. She let out a shout of joy, and pulled her slowly back onto the road, sputtering all the way. “Don’t worry baby, I’ll get you all fixed up.” She said, patting her bike. “Somehow…”

Eventually, she spotted a sign directing her to a nearby town, and she internal shouted in joy. Though as she pulled into the next exit to head in, she noticed a small figure in the distance, seemingly waving her down. Curious, she pulled over to the side, not shutting off her bike. If this girl was gonna waste her time, then she didn’t wanna deal with having to struggle to start her bike.

As the biker grew closer and slowed down, Hana sighed out a sigh of relief. Once the bike came to a stop, Hana took a look at the bike; it was pretty beat up. “I’m not gonna ask what happened to you and this bike because that’s probably a long story, but I will tell you that unless you let me fix up this bike, you’re not making it to town.” Hana explained, brown eyes glancing over the bike.

“This is a really nice bike. Let me fix it up for you. I’m pretty handy with tools, and I was working on my own bike just a few minutes ago.” She said. “I also got a first aid kit you can use for yourself while I work.”

“Look, I appreciate the gesture, but I don’t have any cash on me, and I won’t be able to get any until I get to the next town.” Sunset said, still not taking off her helmet.

“And thanks for the offer, but I’ll be alright. I don’t need the kit.”

Savanna is just sitting in front of Joseph’s shop in the heat, laid back in her chair and looking rather exhausted. The old man comes out with a bottle of water and sets it down at her feet, his body shaking.

“When was the las’ time ya ate somethin’?”

“Yesterday.”

He narrows his eyes. “Tha’s a lie righ’ there. I didn’ see ya come out of your room to th’ fridge. … At least drink somethin’. Goin’ without drinkin’s more dangerous than tha’. … Ya gonna tell me what’s wrong wit’ ya?”

“Nothing.”

“.. Righ’.” He sighs and hobbles back into the shop.

“Why not use both?” Shimmer asked. “If they flirting fail, then resort to power. Besides, its just flirting, it’s not like you have to that them out back and fuck ‘em. Show them a little interest, offer to go somewhere private and when they least expect it… bam! You strike.” Shimmer said, pounding a first into her open palm.

“Plus of you don’t wanna turn them, and the area is out of the way then you’ve got a perfect spot to hide the body. These cops and law enforcement can be… pretty good.” She said. “And if it gets loose that the victim was found drained of their blood with two holes in their neck…” she trailed off, looking distant as she instinctively held Lillian closer to her.

“Humans these days are less inclined to believe in things like us, you know. They’ll likely assume it was another one of them with a few screws loose!”

“You worry for me too much, Shimmer. And I could never, ever use flirtation in my tactics knowing I am seeing someone. That’s simply deplorable, for food or not!” Lillian said, hands on her hips.

“Really?” Shimmer said with a sly grin. “And who is this person that’s stolen your heart?” She quipped jokingly. “I’ll have to give them a good talking to!”

She giggled as she said, “I know. I can’t help but worry. I’m what you’d call "protective” of the people I actually care about in my life, you being one of them.“ She said, kissing the vampires cheek.
