How 2 be a better, happier Artist:

vt-scribbles:

  1. Stop insulting your work. [I don’t care how much you hate it, stop. Find ‘what I’ll do better’ instead of ‘what I did wrong.’]
  2. Finish/Keep everything. [Yes, even the bad stuff when you hate how it’s turning out.]
  3. Stop erasing so much. [Just make a new layer and hide the old one, or start on a different spot of your paper and redraw it until you like it. You can’t learn from your mistakes if you can’t see them anymore.]
  4. Notes/Faves and attention are reflections of your business skills, not your artistic skills.
  5. Draw for yourself and your enjoyment, not other people.
  6. Do not base your entire artistic foundation on negativity. It will crash and burn, and you will attract the wrong crowd. [Bashing other people, critique for the sake of hating on something.]
  7. Stop using the ‘it’s my style’ excuse. [Style does not excuse something looking bad/being anatomically or technically incorrect.]
  8. Study. [Bad at something? Study it until you’re less bad.]
  9. Stop comparing yourself to others. [You’re on your own path at your own pace. EVERYONE started at a low point and had to work their way up. You’ll never know you’re ‘going slow’ if you don’t worry so much about what speed others are moving at.]
  10. There’s nothing wrong with fanart. [Want to get more attention and grow your audience? Fanart. It’s a common ground that people can relate to and recognize, bringing them over to your table before you share your own content.]
