From everything Autumn knew about sleep and people, that was bad. Very bad. Sunset was probably hallucinating at this point.
“Sunset, we’ve got to get you to sleep lickety-split then. Why don’t you lie down and I’ll make you some hot cocoa?”
“At this point, I don’t even care. I just gotta find a way to get that giant penguin lookin thing away from me…” Sunset said, seeming to squint her eyes at something in the distance.
“Oh… lookie what we got here!” She said, sound almost like she was drunk. “Tha’ silly penguin is back again… is too damn hot for a penguin to be just… walkin’ around here! I gotta send ‘em back to the south pole!”
Autumn turned to see the ‘penguin’ that Sunset was referring to and when she saw blank space she blinked. “Okay. Come on. It’s time for soup and some melatonin. Have you ever taken that? It’s just a vitamin. But it can really work wonders. Non-habit forming.”
She took Sunset’s hand cautiously and started leading her away from the ‘penguin.’
“We’ll take care of him later, don’t worry.”
“No… no druggies…. me-me-mega-toenail give me night terrors…” she slurred. All of a sudden, she looked behind her and ran at the “penguin”, letting out a primal scream of rage. “DIE YOU BLACK AND WHITE, FLIGHTLESS, OVERGROWN SCUMBAG!”
