Shimmer completely ignored Joseph now, using her strength to nearly take the handle off the door, throwing it open as she knelt down next to Savannah, not saying a word as she took her into her arms.
She continued crying, rubbing her tears on her sleeve before clinging onto Shimmer and bawling even louder. Meanwhile, Joseph was panicking over how hysterical the child was and the fact that he’d have to pay for those damages.
“H-H-He– H-He– I-I-I–!!”
“Slow down, girl, ya know y’can’t talk righ’ if you rush it..! Dammit, th’ door!!”
“Shhh… it’s ok… it’ll be ok, Sav. I’m here, just… just let it out.” Shimmer said, her own voice beginning to waver as the girl sobbed her eyes out. She stroked the girls hair gently as she pulled her in closer, slowly beginning to rock her back and forth.
