The last thing she had expected to see was the inside of Celestia’s personal office. Last she remembered, the portal was in at the Crystal Empire. Or was it at Twilight’s castle? She couldn’t really remember at the moment, not with her nerves fired up to 11. Guess Celestia wanted it moved so she could keep an eye on it in case…
She trotted forward and quickly tried to make a run for it, but it had been a while since she had been on four legs. She quickly lost her balance as she tried to run, and stumbled slightly, her front hooves waving wildly in front of her. Before she knew it, she tripped, body flailing all over the place as she let out a cry of panic.
“Sunset,” Celestia took a step forward. Her magic instantly formed a protective barrier on the ground like a pillow to make sure the unicorn would not thrash on it and pushed the mare up to standing position. “Deep breaths.”
She must be re-adapting to being a pony. That had to be frightening. Celestia put a hoof forward and felt Sunset’s forehead as if to check her temperature. Perhaps an old habit. Then she backed away.
“Sunset Shimmer…” her voice grew sterner. “…you’ve returned? For good?”
Right before Sunset had hit the ground, she felt an old, familiar aura embraced her, one she hadn’t felt since she was a filly. A warmth covered her, and for a split second, she almost did want to leave it. But sadly, she was brought to her feet and felt a gentle hoof on her forehead.
She winced slightly as her old mentor addressed her, the sternness in her voice causing her ears to instinctively fold back as she looked down at the floor in fear. Never in her life had she felt so small as she only gave the smallest of nods.
