“– Oh. Oh, so that’s what you think is going on. Yeah, she definitely told you the full story. She was completely honest with you. Hahaha, haha – BULLSHIT!”

“You want to know what happened? Fine. I’ll tell you what happened. When Serena was telling me all about herself and her little hobby, she admitted things to me. She admitted that she was going out there on her own without protection and had even been hospitalized for it before. So I made a little deal with her – I asked her to promise she would not go in the forest on her own again. She would go with me instead, so she’d actually have someone there to protect her. And you know what happened that day I snapped at her? She broke the promise! She didn’t come and ask me to help her, she didn’t call me, she didn’t even let me know she was headed out there.”

He ran a hand through his hair. “I went to visit her myself that morning, and I found out she went to the forest without me because Joseph said she told him that’s where she was going. And it gets fucking better. She was recording two huge demons that could have easily crushed her like a fucking bug if she had been caught. What if she had gotten hurt by the time I got there, huh? What if she got killed? You weren’t even there. She was completely on her own that day, otherwise you would’ve known about this. But – but that’s my fault somehow, right?”

“Look, I’ll admit it was pretty stupid of her to do that, you have to remember something: she’s 15! That’s what teenagers do! They rebel! And there isn’t much you can do to stop her from what she’s wants to do unless you COMPLETELY shut her down. And I don’t wanna see that happen! It’s why I’m teaching her how to defend herself while I go out there with her!
