Hello! I know Aldo Maldonado has been a topic very relevant lately but today I bring you a theory about our favorite lizard girl that Im surprised no one has talked about…or, well, not much.
I said before that Demencia was probably a normal person before she worked for Black Hat, and that Black Hat and/or Flug were the ones that probably brainwashed her in order to have a loyal assassin, but knowing that Flug had made mistakes, Demencia’s loyalty probably got a tiny bit overcharged. Now that we know that brainwashing is something that exists in Villainous world, this theory is not so far from canon. So hear me out, what if Demencia was part of the cult but ended the same way as Aldo?
My first prove that Demencia have something similar to whatever happened to Aldo is that they talk almost equally crazy about “the master”. The first thing I thought when I heard the last audio of Aldo was Demencia, most of the time she speaks with the same enthusiasm and crazy energy about Black Hat and how important and amazing is to please him. Also, Demencia refers Black Hat as “the master Black Hat” sometimes.
My second prove are the dates. Aldo said in the audio and notes that everything happened in the year 2015, three years before what is actually happening in the show. Alan said in one of his conferences that Demencia has been working very recently in the Org. I suppose recently could mean less than five years? So, what if Demencia was also brainwashed around that year? What if she was “transformed” from a normal human (or even an agent) to a slave for Black Hat in 2015 or 2016? It would make sense that, besides get new adepts, BH would use the same technique to have a new assassin too.
My third prove is another theory I have had since “The foul flower” in February. I said that Demencia is so loyal to BH that she is unable to go against him even if he looks like a hero and that’s the reason why she “crashed” in that short. When we heard Aldo, he is also unable to be suspicious or against the wishes of Black Hat even when we know he was so scared in the audio previous to his transformation, being obligated to do what BH wants even if that means his own destruction. Demencia probably has the same effects as Aldo and is unable to go against BH’s wishes no matter how scared or suspicious she can be against him (given the chance for that to happen). That also could explain why she is the one less scared of him in the whole mansion (or even the whole series). The brainwashing suppress the fear? maybe?.
My last prove is something I read somewhere on tumblr. “Demencia was probably chosen between other girls to be BH’s assassin”. That also makes sense since Aldo was also chosen between some other men. Demencia even foreshadows this in the orientation video of The lost cases of the future, when she talks about a cult of girls adoring Black Hat and she says: “Chose the evilest, craziest of all” and guess what? the girls rejected had top hats! Which probably means the other women that were to be selected were of a high-rank, maybe Demencia was a high-rank too? Alan likes to say that Demencia is Black Hat #1 fan, so maybe she was part of the cult and she did such a great job being an enthusiast fan of “The master” that Black Hat himself choose her to be his employee? Also, Aldo says in his journal that there were 6 young in one reunion, 3 men, and 3 women, maybe Demencia or the other young women were already there? I know that that “Demencia Tips” could be a reference of the cult of women that were in the last season of Samurai Jack, but I think that part foreshadows something because that choosing Demencia mentions wasn’t part of any moment of the last season of Samurai Jack (btw the girl to the left of Demencia is probably Harley Quinn lol)
One last thing I want to add is that we don’t know how much the personality of the person changes after the brainwashing. Demencia looks like she has her own personality and free will, but we don’t know how much she changed from before she was selected (like the way it happens with Aldo). We don’t know if her past-self was completely different to the Demencia we know now.
As I like to said: The past of Demencia is a complete mystery, so everything is possible.
