“… I will,” Nero lied for her sake. He didn’t even know who any of her friends were. Taking a deep breath … the hunter turned away and set his finger on the trigger. “On the count of three, okay, Sunset?

“One…

“Two…

“Three.”

BANG!

Sunset grinned as she heard him count. “You know Nero… I always thought that arm was pretty cool.” She heard the gun fire and felt a split second of white hot pain and then…

Nothing.

Sunset sniffed as she said, “She doesn’t listen to me anymore. She won’t. It’s m-more like a Jekyll and Hyde thing. Kill me and she won’t come back!”

“… No, no, that can’t be the only option. Shut up, Sunset, you’re going to be fine. Everything’s gonna be …”

Nero felt like he was going to vomit. This innocent person… was asking him to kill them. Doing it would go completely against his moral code. But choosing not to could mean the deaths of even more innocents if Shimmer came back.

… A chill ran down his spine as he removed Blue Rose from its holster. 

“Close your eyes, Sunset. I… don’t want to scare you, so I’ll tell you when it’s coming, okay?” He stood, and pointed the barrel of the gun at her head.

“Tell… Tell my old friends I’m sorry… Tell everyone I’m sorry…” She said, closing her eyes. “Just… Do it.”

Sunset screamed again as she felt the crystal break skin and get shoved in her body, but that just increased the still growing pain she felt. She was openly sobbing now, desperately trying to move some part of her body, even if it was just a toe. “S-She… was holding back… She wanted this to happen…”

“Come on, heal up.. you’re supposed to heal from that… God damn it, I’m not letting this happen to an innocent person!” He looked down at her. To say that he felt disgusted with himself… that was the world’s greatest understatement. 

“If.. If you don’t start healing soon, I’ll get you to a hospital, okay?”

“…. Kill me.”

Sunset had ceased her screaming but now she was still groaning in agony. “I-I can’t move! I CAN’T MOVE!” She cried before coughing out a glob of blood.

“Shh, shit-! This will fix everything, okay?!” He held up one of the tiny green fractals, but upon realizing she couldn’t move, realized he would have to administer it himself.

“.. Oh, geez – okay, close your eyes, this is gonna hurt for a second and then everything’ll be –!” He cut himself off, looking away as he aggressively slammed the healing crystal into her body.

As Nero returned to his normal state, he smirked down at the fallen Shimmer, putting his sword back in its place and admiring his handiwork. That bitch would never do anything like that agai–

He always knew she had a “sister” named Sunset. But – did they – did they share the same body…?!

He screamed out as well, realizing that in harming such an evil creature, he’d been killing an innocent at the same time. The color drained from his face as he crouched down beside her and frantically tried to shush the screaming girl.

“N.. NO! This – This isn’t happening! Hang on!!” He frantically reached for one of the green crystals he had been carrying, wondering if they would even work.

Finally, finally, it looked like it was over. Nero gave the fight his all and.. surprisingly, Shimmer didn’t hold up nearly as well as he thought she would. Maybe she hadn’t known all this time she was waving a red flag in front of a bull. Either way, Nero didn’t give a damn, walking up to her fallen body with a look of disgust.

“I told you I’d do whatever it took to protect her… and now you’re never going to hurt anyone again.”

Sunset’s body was in more pain then she had ever physically felt before. Not that she could voice it, not with Shimmer still in control of her body. But something happened. Shimmer was holding back. Sunset knew she could have easily ended it, but… She was taking every blow Nero dealt.

Now her she was at his mercy. She desperately tried to call out to Nero, anything to try to get him to listen, but Shimmer was still holding strong. But then… She just felt her leave. Just like that. Sunset’s skin turned it’s natural yellow again and her eyes returned to normal. And then… The pain set in.

Her eyes widened and she let out a bloodcurdling scream of pain and tears flowed from her eyes. She couldn’t even move.

(Yo @rcginaxgnis is like one of the best Lord Dominator blogs in the history of ever. Zeph is so nice and she’s a hell of a writer and her portrayal of Dom is so friggin accurate. And scary. XD)
